Batch code

A unique string consisting of five characters which Gemalto assigns to every software vendor that uses the Sentinel LDK solution. The batch code helps to distinguish license keys of one vendor from another. Sentinel HL keys usually have batch codes written on their cases.

VIT uses the following batch codes (vendor IDs): EAOWT and AAOTB (numbers equivalents are 107392 and 106763 respectively).

Key ID

A unique ID for a Sentinel protection key.

Feature

An identifier for a protected functionality unit of a product. It is written into a license key memory and allows the corresponding functionality unit to be independently controlled by a license.

In Sentinel LDK, a Product is a collection of one or more licensed Features. All Features contained in one license key determine what product(s) functionality units are available for usage (on the computer where that key is installed, see the Example).

License type

Permitted usage period assigned to each Feature in each Product. VIT uses the following license types:

  • Perpetual: indicates that the license can be used an unlimited number of times for an unlimited period of time.

  • Expiration Date: specifies the date on which the license expires.

  • Time Period: specifies the number of days until the license expires, from the date of first use.
