License deletion (Windows)

Hardware license (HL) key deletion

As a licensing information storage, the hardware key's memory can be formatted.

Software license (SL) key deletion

Peculiarities of deletion of software licenses provided by VIT:

KeysDescriptionDeletion

SL-Legacy or SL-Legacy Provisional

Created via Sentinel SDK 5.x or older versions. Such keys are not provided by VIT anymore. Is possible only by low-level disk formatting. Also, if you extend the volume of your logical disk, there will be a risk of losing your SL-Legacy Provisional key.

SL-AdminMode (including the Unlocked licenses, i.e. the demo licenses)

Created via Sentinel LDK 6.x or later versions. Such keys are installed as certificate files into specific directories, but only if Sentinel LDK Run-time is installed (hasplms.exe process is active). Also, this environment must be running when you generate a c2v-file with the fingerprint of your machine hardware (that fingerprint is needed for full-featured license key installation and operation).

The licensing information (e.g. feature counters) is located in secured storage on your computer.

Is possible by deletion of certificate file from your computer. However, only the key will be deleted, while all the license counters tracking information on restrictions will remain in secured storage on your computer.

If you return the certificate file back to the directory, the key will be fully restored, and its counters will keep on tracking information from the point where they stopped due to key deletion (time restrictions are tracked and counted even when the corresponding license key is absent).

To delete the SL-AdminMode key, delete the corresponding v2c-file from C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel LDK\installed\*Vendor_id*.

For the changes to be applied, restart the Sentinel LDK License Manager service or your computer. Otherwise, the changes will only be applied in 5-10 minutes.
