Note

We will refer to the computer where protected products are installed (and so the license is to be applied) as a target machine

You have selected the Offline Activation, because you have entered the Sentinel EMS Customer Portal (CP) from the machine which is NOT the target one.

Step 0. Make prearrangements

#Prearrangement
1Make sure Sentinel LDK Run-time Environment is installed (hasplms.exe process is active). If not, install it manually.
2
  • If you are an end-user, make sure you have access (either physical or remote) to the target machine.
  • If you are a software distributor, keep in touch with your end-user. You will have to exchange the .c2v/.v2c files (keep on reading to find out what they are for).
3Make sure the Sentinel HL key is connected (to the target machine), if you are using one.

Step 1. Log in to Customer Portal

1. Access the CP by entering your Product Key.

Fill out a registration form, if required.

Step 2. Consider your Product Key parameters

When you enter the CP, the information on your license order will be displayed, including the following parameters of your Product Key:

  • total number of Activations allowed for your license;
  • number of activations which are still available for you (Remaining Activations) and already performed (Previous Activations);
  • the list of available Features grouped into Products;
  • License Terms specified for each Feature;
  • permitted Lock Type (HL and/or SL).

Click Help (or the  button) for detailed description of the CP fields.

If you have activations remaining (see the Note 2), the Online Activation and Offline Activation buttons will be available.

Step 3. Go through the Offline Activation process

After you click on the Offline Activation button, the Generate License window will open.

If you are an end-userIf you are a software distributor

1. Download the RUS utility, if you do not have one on your target machine yet. Transfer it to your target machine.

2. Generate a .c2v file with the help of RUS on your target machine (if you are not familiar with this procedure yet, see Step 1 of "Regular license update" page).

3. Transfer your newly generated .c2v file to the current machine (where the CP is accessed).

4. Upload the .c2v file in the Generate License window (via Upload C2V interface, see the figure below).

5. Click Generate to generate a .v2c file.

6. Save the obtained .v2c file to a location in your machine (the Download V2C File dialog box).

7. Transfer the .v2c file to the target machine.

8. Apply the .v2c file (for instruction, see Step 3 of "Regular license update" page).

1. Download the RUS utility, send it to your customer (end-user).

2. On his computer, the customer should generate a .c2v file with the help of RUS (you can send him/her a link to the "Regular license update" instruction).

3. The customer should send you the generated .c2v file.

4. Open the Generate License window again. Upload that .c2v file via Upload C2V interface (see the figure below).

5. Click Generate to generate a .v2c file.

6. Save the obtained .v2c file to a location on your computer (the Download V2C File dialog box).

7. Send that .v2c file to your customer.

8. The customer should apply the .v2c file (see Step 3 of "Regular license update" page).

So, after applying the license, you (as an end-user) can check the parameters of the new license key: Products, Features, Feature restrictions. This can be done in Admin Control Center. See the quick introduction to working in this web-application. See "How can I view the properties on my license key?" for introduction to Admin Control Center.
