Enabling Java in Mozilla Firefox

You have downloaded and installed Java, which is needed for Online Product Key activation in Sentinel EMS Customer Portal. Now you have to make sure it is enabled in your web browser. If you are using Mozilla Firefox, follow the instructions below.

1. Select which web browser(s) on your computer should use Java. For this, open the Start menu and select Configure Java. The Java Control Panel window will open.

3. Open the Advanced tab of Java Control Panel. Scroll to the Default Java for browsers section, then make certain that each checkbox is enabled.

4. Go to the Security tab. In the Exception Site List section, add the four address variations of your Customer Portal:

  • with http protocol used (http://[customer-portal-address]);
  • with https protocol used (https://[customer-portal-address]);
  • with http protocol and port number (http://[customer-portal-address]:[port-number]);
  • with https protocol and port number (https://[customer-portal-address]:[port-number]).

For example:

  • http://example.com/
  • https://example.com/
  • http://example.com:8080/
  • https://example.com:8080/

5. Enable Java in Firefox's Add-ons Manager. To do that:

5.1. Click Tools in the Menu Bar at the top of a Firefox window, and click Add-ons from the drop-down menu.

If your menu is hidden, click the  button and then choose Add-ons.

The Add-ons Manager will open in a new tab/window.

5.2. Click Plugins. In the list, find Java(TM) Platform SEIf you see Java (disabled), it means that Java content will not be displayed in Firefox. To enable Java, click the Never Activate drop-down menu.

5.3.

  • If you want to be asked whether to activate Java every time you encounter Java content, select Ask to Activate.
  • If you want Java to be activated when required without your permission, select Always Activate.

Your selection will be saved automatically.

6. Reload the Firefox.

Note

When referring to “Java” in this instruction, we are referring to Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
