  • update the existing license key.

2.

Connect Sentinel HL key to your computer, if you are using one.

Step 1. Generate a .c2v file

On this step, you will do either of the following:

  • If you don't have any licenses, you will make a unique fingerprint of your computer with the help of the RUS utility.
  • If you already have a license key (SL or HL one), you will retrieve its current status with the help of the RUS utility or Admin Control Center. From these two, choose the tool which is mostly convenient for you and follow the corresponding instructions below.

If, for license update, you have chosen to use the RUS utility, skip all the instructions concerning Admin Control Center, and vice versa.

RUS utility

1. Launch the utility from the directory of one of VIT products (by default, C:\Program Files(x86)\VIT\[product_name]) or from the Start menu:

2. Open the Collect Status Information tab of RUS.

  • If you already have a license key providing some functionality (including the disabled/expired one), select the Update of existing protection key option.

  • If you don’t have any protection keys on the current computer, select the Installation of New Protection Key option.

2. Click the Collect Information button.

3. Specify the name for a .c2v file to be generated (for example, License_update_request). Then save it to a specific directory.

If there are more than one license keys installed on a local machine, a proper key to retrieve the status of should be selected in the window that appears:

If you are using several Sentinel HL keys and you disconnect some of them, click Refresh to update the list of available keys.

For details on license keys currently available on the machine, use the Admin Control Center application.

4. Make sure the .c2v file was created successfully and move on to the Step 2.

Admin Control Center web-application

With the help of ACC, you can generate a .c2v file for either HL and SL keys:

1. Open the ACC application (http://127.0.0.1:1947/_int_/devices.html). On the Sentinel Keys tab, determine which license key is to be updated (quite often, the key is local).

2. Click the C2V button in the corresponding Actions column.

3. Click Download C2V file on the next page that appears (or Cancel to go back).

4. Make sure the .c2v file was downloaded successfully and move on to the Step 2.

Step 2. Send the .c2v file to your manager

Step 3. Apply a .v2c file received from the manager

Your manager generated and sent you a .v2c (“customer-to-vendor”) file which contains the license update data. To apply it, use either RUS utility or ACC web application.

RUS utility

1. Open RUS again and go to Apply License File tab.

2. Specify the path to the .v2c file received from the manager.

3. Select the file and click Apply Update button.

Admin Control Center web-application

1. Open the ACC application.

2. Go to the Update/Attach tab.

3. Specify the path to the .v2c file received from the manager.

4. Click Apply File.

Step 4. Check the license key status

After you have applied your license, you can check the parameters of the newly updated/obtained license key (Products, Features, Feature restrictions) in Admin Control Center.

Both RUS and Admin Control Center write information into a .c2v (“customer-to-vendor”) file. Your private data won't be included in the .c2v file. A manager responsible for license updates will require that .c2v file from you to generate a unique license compatible with your computer hardware/protection key.

No license keys means that, on the computer where the protected application is/will be installed, you don't have even a demo license (Sentinel SL Unlocked key).
